Domus Academy graduate of Master in Fashion Design, Alessia Xoccato has been garnering a lot of interest recently. This hot new talent has been featured with her Spring collection (available now) in Glamour Italia, and her recently showcased Fall range has also been getting attention with a spread in Vogue Italia.
Xoccato’s design ethos revolves around the concept of effortless clothing. Her collections appear fresh and contemporary with a cool artistic flair, yet remain easy in their approach, becoming clothes that you’d want to wear everyday. The relaxed nature of the cuts are helped by the sumptuous fabrications in her Fall range where felted wools and washed cottons are paired together in a collection that pulls in references from the American mid-west. Long jersey knits, single-fold-over skirts and relaxed, open slung coats with drop shoulders, create a silhouette that oozes ease and nonchalant cool. The clothes in a way, appear as ones you’d previously owned, the kind of item that’s gotten better with age. The beloved shirt that goes with everything, the jacket that despite it’s age still defines with its perfectly formed shape. It’s this intention with Xoccato’s clothing that is so apparent in her Fall collection. Stripes, that were the cornerstone of the Spring range are back again, although they’ve lost their attitude in favour for a more subdued aesthetic suited to the cooler months. The palette also is warming with plums, camels, greys and a beautiful blue that never feels too cold.
