New work by Ned Wenlock

Category: Animation, Design, Film / Multimedia, Music

I love this guy’s work. His characters and overall aesthetic is great. I first came across his animation for Danger Beach’s ‘Apache’. It’s such a great wee clip and what I really like about it is that he just decided that he wanted to make a work for the song and so then took it upon himself to contact the band and sort it out. I like the proactivity! Something we could all learn from I’m sure.

He has completed another work for MGMT and it is just as good. The scrolling type and the way you move through the imagery is fantastic. I love the heavy fabric texture and how collage photos pop up from time to time amongst the illustration.

Check it out,…. and his blog as well as he goes into a lot of depth on how he works and develops his characters and ideas. Good reading.

Very cool! When I saw this, for some reason Martha Colburn came to mind, her work is stop motion collage type stuff, kinda has slightl bit of similarity, definitly worth checking out her stuff if you like this though ^^

Hey Nick, thanks for the ref. I liked checking out her work. I hadn’t heard of her before, I really like how they’re almost like little installations.
