The London Design Festival finished up recently with exhibitors from all over the UK and Europe being brought together in one of the the most influential cities in the world. And there was some great stuff in there… but when searching through it all I saw these and thought they were cute and fresh compared to a lot of what I had seen.
Designed by W&Q, the chairs investigate the traditional craft of Chinese basket weaving. Using bamboo as the source of their creation, they explore this folk craft, evaluate the relationship between historical and local designs, and investigate sustainable critical approaches. The pair have an interesting mix of talents. Qiongjie Yu is a Graphic Designer and Book Artist and Siwen Huang is a Print and Material Designer which is cool and really gives an insight into how they have approached their designs.
Pretty fun little items I reckon. Would liven up a dull room pretty well.
